# Drive Time column (Drivers/Assets table)

> What the Drive Time column in the Dispatch Planner v2 Drivers/Assets table shows, where the hours-of-service value comes from, and why the cell can be blank.

Part of the [Dispatch Planner column reference](/en/help/loads-trips/dispatch-planner-columns).

The **Drive Time** column shows how much driving time Driver 1 has left under hours of service, as last reported by your ELD. Use it to check that a driver has enough hours for a trip before you assign it.

## At a glance

| | |
| - | - |
| **Table** | Drivers/Assets |
| **Shown by default** | Yes |
| **Sort** | Yes, but the order is not reliable. See below. |
| **Filter** | Type a time as HH:MM, such as 04:30. By default the filter shows drivers with at least that much time left. |
| **Who sees it** | Everyone who can open Dispatch Planner v2. Values appear only for drivers your ELD reports hours of service for. |
| **Edit in the grid** | No. The value comes from your ELD. |

## How is the value shown?

The time is shown as hours and minutes, for example **06:45** for 6 hours and 45 minutes left. It is the remaining drive time in the most recent hours-of-service update your ELD sent for Driver 1.

The [Duty Time](/en/help/loads-trips/dispatch-planner-columns/drivers/duty-time) and [Cycle Time](/en/help/loads-trips/dispatch-planner-columns/drivers/cycle-time) columns come from the same update.

## Why is the cell blank?

**Your ELD has not sent hours of service for this driver.** Hours of service come from a connected ELD integration. If your company has no ELD connected, or the ELD has not matched this driver to a driver in Alvys, the cell stays blank.

**The driver has no drive time left.** A driver who has used all of their drive time also shows a blank cell, the same as a driver with no data. Check the driver's ELD if you need to tell the two apart.

**The row is a team and you are looking for Driver 2.** The column shows Driver 1's hours only. Driver 2's hours are not shown anywhere in the table.

## Why does a value look out of date or out of order?

**The value does not count down on its own.** The cell shows the last value your ELD sent. It changes only when the ELD sends a new update, and the column does not show when that update arrived.

**Sorting can put drivers out of order.** Sorting by this column does not always follow the time left. For example, a driver with 10:00 left can sort between drivers with 1:00 and 2:00 left. To find drivers with enough time, use the filter instead, which compares times correctly.

**The filter hides blank rows.** When the filter is set, drivers with a blank cell do not match, because there is no time to compare.
