Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Available column shows when a driver’s last planned trip is scheduled to end, or when their latest driver event ends if that is later. It is one of the earlier availability columns, together with Final Stop, and only appears on accounts that still use them. If your account has Available at instead, use that column.

At a glance

How is the date worked out?

The planner takes the later of these two times:
  1. The scheduled end of the driver’s last trip. This is the trip whose last stop is scheduled furthest out. For an appointment stop, the time is the appointment. For a first-come-first-served stop, it is the end of the stop window, or the start of the window if it has no end. Only trips where the driver is Driver 1 count, and only trips that are not finished yet or were delivered recently.
  2. The end of the driver’s latest driver event. This is the event that ends last among the driver’s events that have already started and have an address.
The time is shown in 24-hour format, in the local time of that stop or event address. If the driver has neither a trip nor an event that counts, the cell shows Now.

How is this different from Available at?

  • Available uses scheduled times only. Available at also uses the time the driver actually left the last stop, stop ETAs, and the Average dwell time from Settings > Planning configuration.
  • Available looks only at the driver’s last trip. Available at looks at every trip and driver event on the schedule and finds the first free stretch at least as long as the “Available for” minimum.
  • Available ignores driver events that have not started yet. Available at counts upcoming events, so a vacation that starts tomorrow already affects it.
  • Available shows Now when there is nothing to go on. Available at shows a dash.

Why does a driver show a date I did not expect?

A future trip sets the date. The date comes from whichever trip is scheduled to end last, even if it has not been dispatched. A driver who is free today but has a Covered trip next week shows next week’s date. The date can be in the past. If the driver’s last trip was delivered a few days ago, the column shows that trip’s scheduled delivery time. The driver is already free. Upcoming time off is not counted. A vacation that starts tomorrow does not change the date until it starts. Check Next planned event to see upcoming time off. Only Driver 1 counts. For a two-driver team, the date follows Driver 1’s trips and events.

How does filtering and sorting work?

Drivers showing Now sort to the top. They come first whether you sort earliest first or latest first. Filtering leaves out drivers showing Now. A date filter only matches drivers that have a date. The date filter uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The cell shows local time, but the filter compares calendar days in UTC, so an evening time in North America can fall on the next day for the filter. Find drivers filters on this column. When you click Find drivers on an Open or Covered trip, the planner filters the drivers to those whose Available date is no later than the day after the trip’s pickup date, and whose Final Stop is within 250 miles of the pickup. Drivers showing Now are left out by that filter. Clear the Available filter to see them. Find trips starts from this date. When you click Find trips for a driver, the planner shows trips that pick up from the driver’s Available date through seven days later.
