Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Next planned event column tells you what a driver’s next commitment after their free time is: another trip, or time away such as Hometime or Vacation. Use it to plan around time off, for example by giving a driver whose next event is Hometime a trip that ends near home.

At a glance

What does each value mean?

Work order and Repair are maintenance event types for trucks and trailers. You cannot pick them when you add a driver event, so you will not normally see them in this column.

How is the event chosen?

The event is whatever ends the driver’s free stretch, the same stretch that Available at starts. Next planned at shows when it starts and Next planned in shows where, so the three columns always describe the same commitment. If two commitments overlap, the planner treats them as one and shows the one that starts first.

Why does a driver show a dash?

The driver has nothing planned after their free time. If no trip or driver event follows Available at, there is no next commitment. Next planned at and Next planned in are blank too. The driver’s availability has not been recalculated since this column was added. The planner recalculates a driver’s availability when one of their trips or driver events is created or changed, or when the availability settings in Settings > Planning configuration change. Until that happens, the column shows a dash even if Next planned at has a value. The driver has no availability. When Available at shows a dash, so does this column. That happens when the driver has no trips and no driver events on record, or belongs to an outside carrier.
