Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Available for column shows how long a driver is free before their next commitment starts, such as 1 day, 6 hours. Use it to check whether a driver has enough time to run a trip before their next trip or time off.

At a glance

How is the time worked out?

Available for measures the free stretch that Available at starts, up to the time in Next planned at:
  • If the driver is not free yet, it runs from Available at to Next planned at.
  • If the driver is already free, it runs from now to Next planned at.
The value is shown in its two largest units, such as 2 days, 4 hours or 5 hours, 30 minutes. A free stretch only counts if it is at least as long as the “Available for” minimum in Settings > Planning configuration. If your account has never changed it, the minimum is 18 hours. To learn how the free stretch is chosen, see the Available at column.

Why does the value change or show a dash?

A dash means there is no end to the free time. The driver has no trip or driver event after Available at, so Next planned at is blank too. The driver is free from Available at on. A dash can also mean the driver has no availability. When Available at shows a dash, so does Available for. That happens when the driver has no trips and no driver events on record, or belongs to an outside carrier. The value shrinks as time passes. For a driver who is already free, the time is counted from now, so it gets shorter every time the table loads. Once less than the “Available for” minimum is left, the planner moves on to the driver’s next free stretch. Available at, Available for, and Next planned at all change together. Filtering leaves out drivers with a dash. A driver whose free time has no end does not match a duration you enter. Only Driver 1 counts. For a two-driver team, the time follows Driver 1’s schedule.
