Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Dispatched By column shows the user who assigned each trip, that is, the person who last saved its driver, truck, or carrier. Use it to see who actually did the assignment, which can be someone other than the trip’s dispatcher.

At a glance

Who is recorded?

The user who last saved an assignment on the trip. When you assign a single trip in the planner with Assign or Assign and dispatch, your name is recorded, replacing any earlier one. The name is recorded when the trip is assigned, not when its status changes to Dispatched. A Covered trip already shows the name of the person who assigned it, and dispatching it later does not change the name.

Why is the column blank?

The trip has not been assigned. No one has saved an assignment, so there is no name to show. The trip was unassigned. Unassigning a trip in the planner clears this column, together with Dispatched On Behalf Of. The assignment was made automatically. When an assignment comes from an integration or another automated process rather than a person, no user is recorded.

How is this different from Dispatched On Behalf Of?

Dispatched By is the user who saved the trip’s assignment. Dispatched On Behalf Of is the dispatcher responsible for the trip, and you can change it from the grid. Changing the dispatcher does not change Dispatched By.
