Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Distance From Origin column shows how far each trip’s origin is from a place you pick in the Origin Location filter. Use it to find the trips that start closest to where a truck will be empty, and sort them nearest first.

At a glance

How do I pick the place the distance is measured from?

  1. Open the Origin Location filter in the Trips table.
  2. Search for a place and pick it from the suggestions.
  3. Choose a radius: 25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles, 250 miles, or 500 miles. The radius starts at 100 miles.
The Trips table then lists only trips whose origin is within that radius, and Distance From Origin appears with each trip’s distance from the place you picked. Typing text in the Search origin box on its own does not show the column, because there is no place to measure from. When you select a driver in the Drivers/Assets table, the planner sets a 250-mile radius for you around the driver’s final stop. The column then shows how far each trip starts from where the driver will finish.

How is the distance measured?

In a straight line, in miles, from the place you picked to the trip’s origin, the stop shown in Origin Location. It is not driving distance, so the road miles to get there are longer.

Why is the column missing or blank?

No place is set in the Origin Location filter. Without a place there is nothing to measure from, so the column stays hidden. Pick a place and a radius to show it. A trip whose origin has no map location is not listed. While the radius is set, only trips whose origin can be placed on the map can match, so every trip you see has a distance.
