Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Origin Location column shows the city and state where each trip starts, for example Dallas, TX. Use it to find trips that start near a driver, either by typing a city or state or by picking a place and a radius.

At a glance

Which stop does the column show?

The column shows the city and state of the trip’s first stop. On most trips that is the first pickup. If the trip starts with a different kind of stop, such as a waypoint, the column shows that stop.

How do I filter by location?

The filter offers two ways to match, and you can use both at once. When both are set, a trip has to match both.
  • Text: type part of a city or state in the Search origin box, such as Dallas, TX, or Dallas TX.
  • Place and radius: search for a place, then pick 25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles, 250 miles, or 500 miles. The radius starts at 100 miles. Trips whose first stop is within that distance in a straight line match, not by road.
While a radius is set, the Distance From Origin column turns on and shows how far each trip’s first stop is from the place you picked. It turns off again when you clear the radius. When you select a driver in the Drivers/Assets table, the planner sets a 250-mile radius for you around the driver’s final stop, so the trips shown start near where the driver will be.

Why does a trip not match my filter?

Typing the comma finds nothing. The cell shows Dallas, TX, but the text search compares the city and state separated by a space. Type Dallas TX, or just Dallas. A stop with no coordinates never matches a radius. The radius uses the map coordinates of the stop’s address. If the trip’s first stop has none, the trip does not match any radius, although it still matches a text search. See Understanding address input to set coordinates on a stop.
