Part of the Dispatch Planner column reference. The Status column shows where each trip stands in dispatch: Open, Covered, Dispatched, or In Transit. Use it to separate the trips that still need a driver from the trips that are already assigned or moving.

At a glance

What does each status mean?

Assign moves an Open trip to Covered. Assign and dispatch moves it straight to Dispatched. Sorting by status puts Open trips first, then Covered, Dispatched, and In Transit.

Which trips appear in the Trips table?

The Trips table lists trips that are not finished yet, in any of the four statuses above. When a trip is delivered or cancelled, it leaves the table. The table also only lists trips on loads tendered as a carrier subsidiary. See Dispatch Planner for the full list of conditions.

How does the status change what the planner shows?

  • If you select a trip showing Open or Covered, the Drivers list the planner opens for it is narrowed to drivers who could take it, starting with the trip’s subsidiary and equipment type.
  • If you select a trip showing Dispatched or In Transit, the Drivers list shows the drivers already on the trip.
  • If you select a driver, the Trips list the planner opens for that driver is filtered to Open and Covered trips.

Why does a trip show a status I did not expect?

Quoted and Reserved trips are grouped with similar statuses. A trip in Quoted status shows as Open, and a trip in Reserved status shows as Covered. Open the load to see the trip’s exact status. Filtering on a status leaves out Quoted and Reserved trips. Picking Open in the filter shows only trips whose status is exactly Open, so a Quoted trip that displays as Open drops out. Picking Covered leaves out Reserved trips the same way. Clear the Status filter to see them again. The filter list has only four statuses. Delivered, cancelled, and other finished trips are never in the table, so they are not offered in the filter.
